Due to public demand, we have extended the deadline date to 27 March, 2017 to submit videos.
Have you ever wished to travel to another country in Africa but couldn`t due to Visa requirements or restrictions?
CCPAU is giving you a chance to be part of an Africa without borders.
Travel within Africa for Africans is often fraught with difficulties. Poor interstate infrastructure and the high cost of air travel are just a few of the challenges faced by African travelers. However, the single most challenging aspect for Africans is obtaining the necessary permission to enter a country: THE VISA. Several regional and continental arrangements have been put into place to enable visa free travel across Africa but have had limited and/or inconsistent implementation across the continent e.g. the AEC Treaty, COMESA, EAC, ECOWAS, SADC, treaties., etc.
The issue of free movement of Africans is one that has gained currency across the continent particularly at the governmental level, over the last few years. In addition to pronouncements at the African Union Summits, countries like Rwanda, Ghana and Mauritius have recently removed or eased visa restrictions for Africans. The African Development Bank launched a report on Visa Openness in Africa last year. The African Union launched an African Passport at the July 2016 Summit in Rwanda. The European Union has stepped up its efforts to address migration concerns from the countries of origin and transit through multilateral, bilateral and regional arrangements with African countries supported by multiple funding facilities. More recently the Peace and Security Council of the African Union adopted a decision on Free Movement of People and Goods and its Implications on Peace and Security in Africa. But there has little engagement amongst African citizens on what all these developments mean realistically for them in their pursuit of a better life for themselves.
CCPAU is doing this project on visa free movement for Africans in Africa and invites you to create and submit a 60-second or less MP4 video that demonstrates why you think having a Visa Free Africa is important. Upload your submission by 27 March 2017 via www.wetransfer.com to firstname.lastname@example.org and stand a chance to win $200!
